Have I told you about my asparagus?

Been promising to tell you about my asparagus, so stop asking here it is. And yes I cooked it myself. I am relatively new to the kitchen so the recipe is written for blokes new to the kitchen as well. I got inspired by the ingredients I saw at my local market when I was living in Rome last year. Tough life yes, but that is another story.

You need:
8 thin slices prosciutto
40 asparagus spears (about 2-3 bunches)
generous handful of shaved Parmigiano Reggiano, (get a block and shave it yourself)
2 lemons
butter
non stick frypan
small splash of olive oil
salt and pepper
paper towel.

Method:

Prep:

I prep it all first as it cooks quick. Snap asparagus spears to remove woody end. Wash and dry. Slice lemons in half. If you are feeling weak, use a juicer to juice the lemons, otherwise, just squeeze em. Find a knob of butter. Shave the parmigano reggiano cheese into postage stamp sized bits. Don't let the crowd (aka my son) in the kitchen amazed at you actually doing something in the kitchen steal bits of parmigano; you will run short.

Cook:

Heat pan to high heat. Add olive oil. Fry prosciutto slice by slice. They shrink and turn into chips! Remove to paper towel, allow to cool and don't break them. Add butter to pan on medium heat. Add asparagus spears and season. Add lemon juice to make lemon sauce. Sauté for just a couple of minutes, no more. Remove from heat and serve.

Serve:

large white plate
arrange spears in neat lines. Iimpossible to do in Rome as no one has tongs!)
small parmesan stack
prosciutto chip
small parmesan stack
another prosciutto chip
drizzle stack with lemon butter sauce, put some around the perimeter of each plate.
finish with a round of cracked pepper.
Enjoy!

Sam & Don's Wedding Album

Sam & Don had their wedding late last year, and it was such a beautiful and intimate affair that we had to share their finished album with you all.

The wedding day was just perfect: set on their property at Burbank, on the back verandah overlooking the lake, a small group of Sam & Don's closest friends and family arrived to share their special day.

Don had written the words to a beautiful song detailing the first time he met Sam, and it was sung during the ceremony. Everyone cried - including me!

Family were such an important part of Sam & Don's wedding day, and it was wonderful to have their parents in attendance. There was clearly such a closeness between the couple and their family, and those in attendance were an integral part of the ceremony.

Thank you, Sam & Don, for inviting me to be a part of your precious day together. I am so glad that I could be there to capture the memories you will have for the rest of your lives together.

Live A Year in Europe for Free!

Well we did it, we lived in Europe throughout 2009 for free!

Today it is a steamy hot typical Brisbane February day. How different it is to this time last year; then we were in Lyon France, more than two weeks into the experiene of a life time. It was nesessary to rug up in all our layers of warm clothes, before we ventured out in freezing temperatures.

One funny memory is our attempt to have a picnic... in the snow. In such an idyllic setting we quickly found plastic knives, frozen butter and a french baguette don't work so well so we retreated to the warmth of the car. Oh well, it was a laugh all the same.

A year ago today, we were shopping in my local market in Lyon for rabbit, a lovely casserole was for dinner. Beans, mushrooms and mashed potato accompanied the rabbit perfectly!

Tonight, back in Brisbane, we will escape the heat by relaxing on our back deck, rissoles on the BBQ and a couple of yummy salads is the plan.

A "Model" Subject

Danica was after some images for her modelling portfolio, and boy did we have a great time photographing her! She was the perfect subject, posing just right for some amazing images, encompassing many different styles including bridal-wear, swimwear, lingerie and formalwear.

John and Melinda took Danica all around South-East Queensland, from a driveway in Tenneriffe, to the University of Queensland's Great Court... from some shots in the Reyment Photographics outdoor studio at Coorparoo, to Mt Tambourine's rainforests and Coolangatta's beautiful beaches.

What a day! But it's not too hard to see that we captured some incredible images along the way.

Family Portrait for Rob and Dale

Just got back to the studio a few moments ago after a fun family portrait session with Rob and Dale and their two wonderful little ones Alissa and Lachlan. How good it was to see Rob and Dale again, I had photographed their wedding many years ago one September day in 2001 at Mt Tamborine. Their wedding was at the Eagle Heights Hotel, a place with splendid panorama views of the Gold Coast.

By coincidence, their wedding day was also the 2001 AFL Grand Final Day and was the day the Brisbane Lions won their first flag. I remember guests were excited for two reasons, Rob and Dale's wedding celebrations and news of the Lions' victory over Essendon.

Alissa is a proud 2.5 year old and Lachlan is 7 months. Full of smiles, Lachlan is a real charmer while Alissa is the perfect big sister. We look forward to welcoming Rob and Dale to the Reyment Photographics studio to view their photos very soon.

My First Display Album

A large heavy box was jammed at the back of the wardrobe, the light film of dust on top of it revealing it had not been moved in many years. Wiggling it free from its resting place, I wondered what was hidden inside. As I lifted the lid carefully, I found what I had deposited in it all those years ago... my first wedding display album I used to showcase my work way back in the mid 1990's.

Moments shared with couples came flooding back as I flicked through the pages. A smile lit my face when I saw an image of my sister-in-law on her wedding day in the album. Julie was a beautiful bride, her wedding was memorable, I remember taking the photo in front of me. The album was made from material totaly different to what we use today, one option people were able to select back then was a gold foil embossing around each image. Styles are different today.

Finding this album made me all sentimental, I remembered the pride I had showing it to prospective clients, I had started on my journey as a wedding photographer.

Do you have a photo album in a cupboard that you have not looked at in many years? Go and find it, turn the pages carefully and remember the moments, if possible, ring the person in the photo and tell them what you have found. Photos take us back to those times in a second. Touching an old album is wonderful; there are no obsolete technology problems to navigate, just images to enjoy.

Reyment Photographics began all those years ago with a dream and a passion to photograph special moments in life. From humble beginnings in our home studio in our front enclosed verandah to today operating from our Old Cleveland Road Coorparoo Studio, we continue to strive to provide our clients with stunning wedding photos and an amazing photography experience.

So what has changed in the last 15 years, especially with wedding photography? We will be taking a retrospective look at where it all began for us, what the styles of photography were and technology (or lack of!) used. What equipment were we using, what were we giving our clients, how much has changed?

John Reyment is Back from Europe

"JR" is back!

2009 saw John Reyment, Master Photographer and owner of Reyment Photographics live in Europe with his wife Karen and son Alex. Travel destinations included France, Italy, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

In the course of their travels, John, Karen and Alex met so many amazing people, many now true friends. John and Karen; a food and travel writer formed the perfect team as they interviewed and photographed so many artisans in the food industry, all willing to share their passion. From cheesemakers to Michelin star chefs, they found people and businesses willing to share their story. Keep an eye on the Australian press for upcoming articles by Karen accompanied by John's magnificent images.

Now that 2010 has arrived, John has returned to the studio at Reyment Photographics with new inspiration, lots of travel stories and of course heaps of wonderful photos. Be sure to keep an eye on our blog and galleries to see some of our latest images. Below are just a few.

Have you visited The Somme?

Have you ever been to the Somme?

I had always known that many Australians fought at the Somme in France in World War 1 where over 1,300,000 soldiers lost their lives. As a patriotic Australian, I imagined visiting the Somme would be very special, right up there on the list of things you must do when near northern France. What I was not prepared for was how moving an experience it would be to visit places like Pozières, and Villers-Bretonneaux with my family.

We travelled just under three hours by car from Brussels to get to the Somme one December morning. It was chilly but the skies were clear, at least for the morning. Our first stop was at Pozières.

We found the Australian 1st Division Memorial at Pozières which stands over the main German line at Pozières. There is a platform you can climb to see the ridge which the Australians captuted at a cost of 23,000 casualties. Quiet moments of reflection were not enough to keep my tears at bay, my thoughts of the hell on earth it must have been in July 1916 were totally opposed to the tranquil setting I found with silence unbroken save for the birds chirping.

What is the AIPP? And why is it important?

How many acronyms and buzz words are flying through your head while you are looking for a photographer? PMA, AIPP, PPAQ, MKII, CF, SD, PSCS...!

One particularly important acronym in that list is AIPP. It is the Australian Institute of Professional Photography, and it is the National professional photography industry body.

What does this mean? Well, when you are looking for a professional photographer, one of the first things you should look at is if they are a member of the AIPP. Photography is a completely unregulated industry. Your builder needs to be certified under law, your teacher needs to be certified under law, even your local restaurant needs to adhere to strict laws and regulations. But just about anyone can call themselves a photographer!

The trouble here is that you place a lot of trust in your photographer, particularly for a wedding day that cannot be repeated. Choosing an Accredited AIPP member ensures that you have selected a photographer who has agreed to uphold certain ethics within their business, and that their work has been assessed by other photographers in the Institute. Basically, this means that your AIPP photographer will be moral, and is actually a good photographer with a firm grasp of the basic concepts of photography, including light, colour and professional camera operation.

The chances are that your AIPP photographer will also have a high-level of service quality, meaning that they should look after you through the process, right from the moment you book them for your occasion. A bit of peace of mind for you!

The PPAQ (or Professional Photographers Association of Queensland) is another professional organisation for photographers. The PPAQ are Queensland-centric, and also have stringent guidelines for their members to adhere to.

Rememberence Day 2009 in Luxembourg

Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial

11th November 2009, a very special day in Luxembourg for me and my family. Being Rememberence Day, we went to the service at the Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial. Totalling 50.5 acres, the cemetery is located in a beautiful wooded area.

We were greeted by a foggy atmosphere which stubbornly refused to lift. Inspecting the headstones revealed just how young and courageous these soldiers who gave their all were. Row after row, lives cut short. How different would our world be if these people had lived a full life?

A wreath laying ceremony was followed by a ceremony at the grave site of General George S. Patton of the U.S. Third Army. The cemetery was created on December 29, 1944 by the 609th Quartermaster Company of the U.S. Third Army while Allied Forces were stemming the enemy's desperate Ardennes Offensive, one of the critical battles of World War II. The city of Luxembourg served as headquarters for General Patton.

We must have looked like foreigners as we were approached by a reporter from France and asked in French why we were at the service today. We explained (in our best French!) that as Australians, we like to pay our respects to the fallen and attending a service like this on this day is important. Conversation soon progressed to the rest of our travels and the next day, we found an article in the paper about our story.

Nicole & Tim 7th November 2009

Nicole & Tim planned their entire wedding from all the way in NSW, but held the event in Brisbane! And they couldn't have done a better job.

Nicole's Wendy Makin dress was stunning! The boys were dressed by Spurling Formalware, and arrived looking spiffy and on time for the ceremony at Sirromet Winery's Laguna.

The day began with the clouds threatening to break open above us, but the rains stayed away for Nicole and Tim! We went off and had a beautiful photo shoot, and the colours of the vineyard from the recent rain were mindblowing!

Thank you, Nicole & Tim, for allowing us to be there with you on your special day, and capture all of your precious moments together as husband and wife!

What does AUD$8.5 million worth of cars look like?

Spa Francorchamps...
The name of one of the worlds most famous racetracks, a place steeped in motor racing history since the 1920's and the track with Eau Rouge, the most famous corner in all motorsport.

We found ourselves at Spa Francorchamps, the home of the Belgian Grand Prix on a bitterly cold, wet November day and enjoyed a guided tour of the facilities there.

The sound of the rain and wind was interupted by the howl of a high performance engine rounding La Source. What was it, a supercar for sure... A blue flash through the wet with rooster tails behind, now all was revealed, the source of that glorious engine note was an Audi R8 V10 at high rpm, the way it hunkered down and stuck to the apex on Eau Rouge was a sight to behold.

A little more investigation revealed that there were lots of Audi R8's, blue ones, red ones and white ones, all V10's! There were 23 of them at what must have been a corporate drive day. Lucky buggers! With each car costing in excess of $366, 000, the carpark below is not your average collction of cars you see at the supermarket!

Ideas and Tips for Planning Your Wedding

You only get one chance to have the perfect wedding day, so how do you start? What are some of the important things to remember and plan when organising your wedding?

One of the advantages of hiring a full-time professional photography studio for your wedding, is that they have done it all before! They are sure to have tips and tricks, and are prepared for any eventuality before, during and after the wedding.

AIPP Master Photographer, John Reyment, offers some suggestions that might make planning your dream wedding a little easier.

Start planning your wedding not long after you get engaged.
Did you know that venues and photographers often book out more than twelve months in advance; longer in peak wedding seasons. For peak periods, we recommend that you book 12-18 months in advance to avoid disappointment.
Prior to confirming any bookings, ensure that your preferred ceremony and reception venues and photographer are all available to you on the same day.
Your hair and make-up and make or break your look. Ask your photographer for a referral for artists who can provide beautiful, camera-ready looks, and you'll be sure to have picture-perfect photos.
Chat with your photographer about timings for the day before confirming hair and make up timings, ceremony times and reception start times. Your photographer should be able to give you a realistic guide as to how long things will take to ensure you have plenty of time to enjoy the moment. Reyment Photographics clients enjoy this type of guidance as part of service to them.
Allow time after your honeymoon before returning to work to view your wedding photos with your wedding photographer.

Nikki & Luke 29th August 2009

Nikki & Luke's vintage-themed wedding day went off with a splash of flair!

The most important thing to Nikki & Luke on their big day was being surrounded by their friends and family. And, to match the vintage theme of the day, guests were asked to dress up in vintage attire - quite a sight! Nikki wore a knee-length 50's dress, accessorised with a hot pink fascinator and shoes. Luke wore a chocolate pin-stripe suit with matching fedora and a feather in his button hole.

They had their ceremony amongst the beautiful, ancient fig trees at Old Petrie Town, where friends and family witnessed the couple making their vows amongst the rose petals adorning the grass aisle.

The photo shoot was done in and around Old Petrie Town, using the old Fire Station, fields and barns for some interesting backdrops! We truly had a great time, with Luke & Nikki both keen to pose for as many photos as they could fit in before their cocktail reception at Tom Petrie's Restaurant & Bar.

A sensational day with a twist! Nikki & Luke put their own special touches on every element of their wedding day, and each and every detail was personalised perfectly for the couple!

Wow... we had really let the ball drop here!

This is our first blog entry in far too long! John and Karen have been travelling around Europe for most of the year (currently in Italy), and we have been run off our feet while they have been away!

Cass and Clint's Wedding 12th September 2008

What were you doing on Friday the 12th September? We had the pleasure of photographing Cass and Clint’s wedding in Brisbane.

Clint and his groomsmen enjoyed a game of pool at the Norman Hotel before enjoying one of the Norman Hotel’s famous steaks.

Meanwhile, Cass and her bridesmaids were being pampered at Ego Hair, Milton. The stylists at Ego hair are so friendly and importantly, got things done on time. Hair and makeup sorted, it was time to return to their suite at Quay West Brisbane to grab some lunch before getting dressed.

Cass looked absolutely stunning I her gown designed by Wendy Makin Bridal Designs. Photos with the girls was so much fun, we used the many areas around the hotel including the pool deck with views of Brisbane city.

Time to head to the church, Cass and Clint had chosen St Mary’s Anglican Church Kangaroo Point for their wedding. This is one of my favorite churches I Brisbane. I have photographed there so many times over the years and when at this church, I often reflect on the wonderful couples I have photographed here. Father Stephen is a fantastic as well.

Clint greeted his guests; lots of laughter while waiting for Cass to arrive in a classis Jag from Kenz Classics. A moment to get sorted then it is down the isle we go. The ceremony was full of special moments, you can tell by the way Cass and Clint look at each other they are just perfect together.

Champagne with guests on the lawn at St Mary’s was a perfect way to start the celebrations before heading off for photos with the Bridal party. Our destinations were River Terrace Kangaroo Point followed by the waterfront at Kangaroo Point.

While we were enjoying champagne at River Terrace, the sky was turning black as a “5.30 Brisbane Special” storm was rolling in. The conditions changed so quickly, from a beautiful sunset to a black sky! As you can see, the light was amazing for photos.

Cass and Clint had chosen “Riverlife” for the venue for their cocktail reception. Guests sheltered from the rain enjoying music, wine and food. Before long, the rain passed and breathtaking views of the river were for all to enjoy.

Jane and Jason's Wedding 2nd August 2008

Jane and Jason Jane and Jason were married on the 2nd August 2008 on a perfect winter’s day in Brisbane.

We met Jason and his groomsmen at home relaxing on the back deck, enjoying a cold beverage and rehearsing speeches. Jane you will be pleased, Jason remembered to water the veggie garden!

Jane and her bridesmaids prepared at Quay West Hotel in Alice Street, Brisbane; this hotel was perfect as the suite they had had lost of room for everyone. Jane had chosen the Powder Room for her make up and all the girls looked fantastic.

Jane looked amazing, some beautiful photos in the foyer before we left to meet the boys at St Mary’s Anglican Church Kangaroo Point.

A few laughs with Jason and his groomsmen as we took their photos, (yes Peter, I even managed to make you look good!) and it was time to greet the guests arriving. These moments immediately before the wedding are so precious.

Jane’s arrival signaled it was time for the ceremony to start. A wonderful ceremony by Father Stephen and Jane and Jason were Brisbane’s newest married couple!

Champagne with guests on the lawn at St Mary’s was a perfect way to start the celebrations before heading off for photos with the Bridal party. Our destination was Edward Street Brisbane, a wonderful street with diverse architecture, great light enabling stunning imagery.

Jane and Jason had chosen the Queensland Downtown Rugby Club as their reception venue, Drinks on the balcony overlooking the Story Bridge was a perfect warm up to a wonderful meal with friends and family.

Our best wishes to Jane and Jason from all of us here at Reyment Photographics, lovely people with a great life ahead of them.

Daniel & Tash's Wedding 6th September 2008 (with Video)

Daniel and Tash were married on the 6th September 2008 on a windy day in Brisbane.

We found Daniel relaxing at home with his groomsmen checking out the finer details of the old London taxi they had arranged for the wedding.

Meanwhile Tash was preparing at the Stamford Plaza Hotel, Brisbane. When I arrived, there was a overriding calmness, I knew it was going to be a great day.

Hair and makeup complete, it was time for some photos with the family and Tash’s bridesmaid Anna before going to meet Daniel for photos before the wedding. Yes that’s right, photos before the wedding. As the ceremony was late in the day, we had arranged to meet for photos before the wedding so as to maximize time with guests later… and get some fantastic images before.

We met outside Restaurant 2, located on a great corner in Brisbane where I could get a photo of Daniel and Tash seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day. The short video here shows this meeting. As the end of the video, there is a short interview on how Daniel and Tash felt about the photos before, it was a fantastic thing to do, watch the video for more details and to see how we work.

We moved around the city for some great shots, some of my favorites are on the staircase silhouetted against the sky, totally dramatic. Trying to keep out of the wind was a challenge but we did well.

Time to head off to the ceremony, Daniel and Tash had chosen the Chapel at St Stephens Cathedral for their ceremony and it was the perfect venue for an intimate ceremony with their guests.

After congratulations, time to get into the old London Taxi and depart for the reception at the Port of Brisbane Visitors Centre. Daniel is a fantastic chef as were a lot of the guests many of whom had traveled internationally for the wedding. Being a foodie myself, we needed no encouragement to get into the kitchen and check out the action. The cocktail reception ensured guests got to enjoy a wide variety of canapés, the menu was brilliant. I even got photos of Daniel preparing some canapés for Tash in the kitchen.

Sadly it was time to leave; we had a great day as did everyone at the wedding. All of us at Reyment Photographics wish Daniel and Tash a wonderful life together, I am sure every moment will be accompanied by a laugh and splendid food!

Wedding Photography when time after the ceremony is short

How it works is you get ready in the normal way then arrive at a predetermined location before the ceremony for photos and time to spend together. Seeing your Bride/Groom for the first time on the wedding day is so special and exciting, we capture these images for you to enjoy forever.

After your meet and greet, we go on location to capture stunning images of you and your bridal party.

Bettina & Cyril's Wedding 12th July 2008

Bettina and Cyril chose the 12th July 2008 for their wedding day. The weather was Brisbane winter perfect; no wonder so many people are moving to Queensland.

The week before the wedding, I met with Bettina and Cyril to plan the itinerary for their wedding day. With their ceremony not scheduled till 4.00pm, we arranged that on the day, thy would meet for photos before going to the wedding as darkness would be soon upon us after the ceremony.

On the morning of the wedding day, Cyril relaxed with his parents and groomsmen before heading into the city.

Bettina and her bridesmaids had their hair and makeup done by the Powder Room in their room at the Stamford Plaza Hotel, Brisbane. The girls looked fantastic; when they were ready they went to the rendezvous point we had made outside Restaurant 11 (a great restaurant by the way)where Cyril and his groomsmen would be waiting. It was so exciting watching Bettina and Cyril see each for the first time on their wedding day. After a chat about how wonderful everyone looked, we went for a walk through the Brisbane Botanical Gardens before heading off in a black Rolls Royce for some fun and good times. Cyril is so romantic; he and Bettina make a great couple.

After the photos, Cyril and the boys headed off to the Broadway Chapel at Woolloongabba to greet guests as they arrived for the wedding ceremony. Bettina and her attendants arrived not long after (maybe just a tiny bit late).

The ceremony was beautiful with stories about Bettina and Cyril for guests to enjoy.

It was approaching dusk as the ceremony concluded. Hearty congratulations and some family group photos and we were off to the reception at Brett’s Wharf. Cyril and Bettina are passionate about food and Brett’s Wharf was the perfect location for a wonderful reception with their guests.

We left Bettina and Cyril enjoying their reception. When they returned after a short break, we designed a beautiful wedding album together to tell the story of their wedding day.

Chicks in Pink Lottery Launch

Johm Reyment had the pleasure of accepting an invitation to the launch of the latest lottery for the Chicks in Pink on Thursday the 7th August 2008.

The mission of Chicks in Pink is to raise funds which allow us to have positive, significant & real impact on people who are affected by breast cancer at Mater.
They achieve this through:

Innovative activities that are fun & educational

Partnering with like-minded people & organisations

Chicks in pink are an accountable, transparent not-for-profit organisation whose major beneficiary is the Mater Hospital.

Reyment Photographics is a long term supporter of the Mater Foundation through support of the Cars for Cancer Lotteries, we donate images of FPV's and HSV's for use in lottery artwork.

Guests at the launch inspected the main prize for the lottery, a fabulous Mazda MZ-5 supplied by Centenary Mazda.

During the launch, guests were entertained by the 10 Divas, Conservatorium-trained classical singers with a passion for musical styles from opera to pop. Aged in their 20s, the Divas have a wealth of national and international performance experience in musical theatre, opera, cabaret, jazz and pop with performers such as Guy Sebastian, Marina Prior, Tommy Tyco and James Morrison.

The girls repertoire included exquisitely- blended renditions of classics such as ‘O mio babbino caro’, ‘Habanera’, ‘Time to Say Goodbye’ and Leonard Cohen’s ‘Halleluiah’.

The 10 Divas performance was wonderful, I recommend them for your corporate event.

Liz and Chris's Wedding 6th June 2008

Liz and Chris were married on Friday the 6th June 2008, a wonderful Brisbane winters day.

Chris and his groomsmen relaxed at home before getting ready to go to the Church. A couple of quiet beers on the back deck, a game of pool in the pool room had the boys ready to go.

Meanwhile, Liz and the girls had their makeup done at Issada on Oxford Street Bulimba. Final preparations were made at her parents nearby unit. When Liz emerged all dressed and ready, she looked absolutely stunning. Capturing images of the girls was a hoot, there were heaps of laughs as you can see in the photos here.

Time to navigate brisbane Friday afternoon traffic; we headed off to St Thomas Aquinas Church, St Lucia for the ceremony. Chris and the boys arrived in time to greet guests on their arrival. As the crowd swelled, it was time to go inside and await Liz’s arrival.

The ceremony was a celebration; a series of special moments for the family as Liz’s uncle conducted the ceremony. After the ceremony, guests mingled with the happy couple in the warm winter sun passing on their congratulations.

Time to leave the church saw the bridal party head to the Great Court at the Queensland University for some photos and a laugh. As you can see, we had a blast.

Liz and Chris had chosen Hillstone St Lucia for their reception venue and guests were treated to great food, fine wine and marvellous music.

Mater Foundation "Cars for Cancer"

Yesterday we had the pleasure of photographing two of the most powerful performance cars ever made in Australia. Yes, we are talking about the new HSV Clubsport R8 with the new LS3 engine in it and the just released FG FPV GTP (lots of letters which means the latest GT Falcon). This is the first time I had seen the new GT in the flesh, certainly looks more distinctive than the old one. The interior is quite classy as well. The Clubsport R8 looked fantastic as well with its new style 20 inch wheels looking dramatic.

Why were we photographing these cars? Well the Mater Foundation "Cars for Cancer" lottery is on again, this time the Mater Foundation is offering the winner the choice of vehicle so it is a real "head to head" grudge match.

If I won, I would take the HSV but I am a lifetime Holden supporter!

Being such a wonderful cause, we are delighted to donate our time and the images to the Mater Foundation and "Cars for Cancer".

Lee & Katia's Wedding 14th June 2008

Lee and Katia were married on the 14th June 2008. A crystal clear Brisbane winters day was the forecast with temperatures in the low twenties, just idyllic for a wedding.

Lee and Katia now live in Malmo Sweden and returned home to Australia for their wedding. Their week before the wedding was busy with final arrangements; it was at this time we met and discussed plans for the day and photography styles. Lee and Katia wanted their day to be a celebration and a wonderful opportunity to catch up with special friends and family; many from interstate. Lee and Katia have played handball for Australia and many of the guest list were people they have met through handball.

Mid morning on the big day, we caught up with Lee at his parent’s home relaxing with his groomsmen with a bottle of champagne in a sunny corner of the yard. The weather today is as good as it gets in Sweden in the summer! Brisbane has a wonderful climate… most of the year.

Lee ad Katia had chosen Sirromet for their wedding venue. Loving food and wine and good times, this venue promised to be perfect for their day and indeed it was. Katia prepared at a nearby guesthouse before making her way to Sirromet in fully restored (and modified!) 48/215 Holden.

Lee and Katia had chosen the Laguna at Sirromet for the wedding. Guests mingled with Lee before the wedding. This was a great time to for Lee to catch up with guests and receive best wishes.

Katia arrived, a little nervous and definitely excited. Walking down the isle was a special moment, in fact the the whole ceremony was wonderful. After signing the register, Lee and Katia were greeted by their guests with lots of hugs and kisses. A group shot of everyone there (yes, I climbed the tree yet again for the perfect birds eye view), some family photos and it was time for the bridal party to head off for some photos around the property and catch the last rays of sunlight.

The bridal party joined their guests for drinks at the cellar door as the cool the evening arrived. Watching old friends catch up is a great spectacle and the perfect subject for candid photos.

The Barrel Room had been set for Lee and Katia’s wedding just as they had arranged. Lee and Katia had chosen two MC’s for the reception; well dome to Matt and Karim for a job well done. It wasn’t long before the Barrel Room was filled with the noisy chatter of guests having a wonderful time over dinner. The food looked amazing as always, Executive Chef Andrew Mirosch and his team of talented chefs excelled again.

Sadly, it was time for us to leave, as we walked up the stairs, I looked back through the glass window at all the guests having a wonderful time and though; what a wonderful day we have had. How lucky are we to be able to share such precious moments with our clients.

Steve and Laura's Wedding 7th June 2008

Steve and Laura were married on the 7th June 2008. Rain in the morning cleared to an overcast afternoon with a wonderful sunset; absolutely perfect.

In the week before the wedding, Laura and Steve finalized the wedding day pans with me and we discussed the style of images they would like. Classic and elegant with some fun thrown in.

Laura and her bridesmaids prepared at her parents home while Steve and the boys relaxed at their inner city apartment, nothing too stressful.

Laura looked absolutely stunning in a Wendy Makin design dress. Preparations complete, it was off to All Saints Wickham Terrace for the Ceremony.

Steve and the boys were immaculate in their suits, some stylish images of the boys before guests started to arrive and greet Steve and pass on best wishes.

Laura arrived with her parents in a 1940's Rolls Royce; a very elegant vehicle. Down with the veil and now time for the ceremony. All Saints is one of my favorite Churches, it is dark inside but the images we get are stunning. I have been photographing weddings at All Saints for nearly 15 years and it remains one of my favorite churches, there is a real sense of occasion there.

A wonderful ceremony and it was time to relax and celebrate lots of hugs with friends and family outside the church before heading off for some photos.

Our photos had a Girls and the City (bit like that movie on show at the moment!) theme before we went to the University of Queensland for some time together as a bridal party. Guys we have to shape up as Steve has set the bar to a very high standard. While alone in the car being chauffeur driven to the photo location, Steve presented Laura with another diamond ring… sorry girls, Steve is definitely taken.

A laugh, a drink and some fun images before we headed off to the reception at the Terrace Room, Indooroopilly Golf Club. As we arrived, the sun was just starting to peak out behind some dark clouds and this is where I took the sunset image you see here. Laura was so excited, the weather request we had pout in days earlier had been granted lock stock and barrel. I love it when a plan comes together.

The staff of the Indooroopilly Golf Club looked after Steve and Laura and their guests throughout the evening, a great night was had by all.

Chris & Tracy's Wedding 8th June 2008

What were you doing on Sunday the 8th June 2008? I hope you had as great a day as we did at Reyment Photographics. We had the honor of photographing Chris and Tracy’s wedding at Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens. Guests enjoyed a lovely afternoon in the gardens before joining the bride and groom at boulevard Gardens, Indooroopilly.

The day began with Chris and the boys doing a spot of fishing at a secret location! Any fish were safe from these lads; there were no hooks on the end of the line.

Tracy and her bridesmaids prepared at her parents home, everything was beautifully organised; those who know Tracy would not be surprised as is just how Tracy is. The girls looked fantastic and were excited (and a little nervous) to get to the wedding.

We met Chris and the boys at the Planetarium for some photos with the dome, being a Sunday, the gardens were really busy with other visitors. Chris greeted his guests while awaiting Tracy’s arrival.

And what an arrival it was. A super stretch Chrysler 300C from Platinum Rides was the vehicle of choice. A crowd soon gathered to see who would be emerging from this over 9 metre long vehicle. Show time and Tracy, her parents and the bridesmaids made their way to the wedding lawn where Chris was waiting.

A wonderful ceremony for al the guests to witness, a special candle ceremony was a highlight. After lots of hugs and congratulations, the bridal party enjoyed the surrounds of the botanic gardens including a beautiful waterfall before heading off to Roma Street Parklands to have some photos taken. How long has it been since you saw a waterfall running?

Chris and Tracy love Roma Street Parklands for their photos as there is a wide variety of landscapes for photos. We walked through the gardens before a final stop in the 300C at the Goodwill Bridge on our way to Boulevard Gardens at Indooroopilly.

Guests enjoyed a wonderful evening at Boulevard Gardens before fare welling Chris and Tracy on their honeymoon.

As I write, Chris and Tracy are on their honeymoon, all of us at Reyment Photographics look forward to catching up with them on their return and showing them their wedding photos. We wish them all the best for their future together.

Chris and Sam's Wedding 12th April 2008

Chris and Sam were married on the 12th April 2008 at St Stephen’s Cathedral, Brisbane. Guests celebrated and partied long into the evening with Chris and Sam at the Pavilion at Allan Border Field.

Chris and the boys began the day in relaxed mode, being a keen punter, a quiet drink, a bet and lunch at the iconic Breakfast Creek Hotel. Meanwhile Sam and the girls were pampered having their hair and makeup done.

When everyone was ready, it was off to St Stephen's Cathedral for the ceremony. Guests mingled with Chris prior to Sam’s arrival in an immaculate black Chrysler 300C. The ceremony was very touching; witnessing Chris and Sam take their vows was a special moment for all.

Celebrations began immediately leaving the church; lots of candid moments on the stairs of the church.

A celebratory drink in a beautiful tree lined street with sun shining gently through the trees was a moment for the bridal party to enjoy. We made our way to Eagle Farm for some photos at the gates and entry continued our horse racing theme. On to Allan Border Field for a wonderful reception. Did you know that the staff at Allan Border Field allow bridal parties to have photos on the field, the turf is wonderful underfoot, I wish my lawn at home was as good.

A noisy reception room is always a good one and this reception didn't disappoint. Chris and Sam mingled with their guests through the night, everyone had a great time, although some were a little worse for wear but you know what they say... what happens on the field…

John Reyment wins multiple AIPP Print Awards at The 2008 AIPP Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards

Great news to share! John Reyment from Reyment Photographics has won multiple print awards at The 2008 AIPP Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards held in Brisbane on the 30th May-1st June 2008.

The APPA's as they are affectionately known are Australia's premiere photography awards and showcase the work of Australia's best photographers. Entries are judged by a panel of five AIPP Master Photographers. Waiting for your prints to appear for judging is exciting and nerve wracking, listening to discussion and comments about your entry is insightful and challenging while waiting for the final score is a moment full of expectant anticipation!

The 2008 AIPP Canon Australian Professional Photography Awards Dinner is on tonight, I look forward to sharing more about the dinner and awards tomorrow.

Matt and Katie's Wedding 17 May 2008

Matt and Katie designed their beautiful wedding album in the studio yesterday. They were married on the 17th May 2008 at The Abbey Church, Toorbul.

Their wedding day started with Matt playing a friendly darts game with his family while Katie and the girls had hair and makeup done at Bribie Island salon.

After some beautiful and hilarious images of the girls and family (her dad is a character), we headed off to “The Abbey” to meet Matt and his attendants before the wedding. There was plenty of emotion as Matt greeted his guests, they were full of anticipation for what was about to unfold.

The ceremony was very touching; even the priest shed a tear. Congratulatory hugs outside the church for all, this crowd was delighted to be here and share special moments with Matt and Katie.

Photos were a blast. I had Brodie, the page boy (a boisterous 5 year old) help me with organizing people for the family photos. It was so funny seeing him with my list marshalling the family for photos.

The bridal party relaxed with a drink while we took some photos around the grounds of the Abbey, a very picturesque setting. The kids in the bridal party were so cute and very interested in seeing the photos I was taking. We went one step further; each of them asked if they could take a few photos. In the images above, Indiana is taking a photo with Brodie directing Matt and Katie to kiss! These kids have talent!

We then headed off to Bribie Island for the reception at Pacific Harbour Golf and Country Club. The sunset on this particular evening was amazing followed by dark storm clouds brewing. The reception was lots of fun, Matt and Katie were amongst the last to leave. A good time was had by all. Matt and Katie enjoyed a spectacular but relaxing honeymoon at the Daintree Eco Lodge and Spa.

Steve and Helen's Wedding 3rd May 2008

Steve and Helen were married on the 3rd May 2008 on a family property near Boonah Queensland. It was a magic day, lots of fun for all. Helen looked amazing in a Wendy Makin design dress and Steve looked dashing in a stylish black suit.

The venue for the wedding was in a beautiful garden overlooking a creek, a most tranquil and perfect setting. The sun shone gently through the trees on Steve and Helen during the ceremony.

After the wedding while guests enjoyed a few drinks, the bridal party climbed a mountain in 4WD's to take in the view, enjoy a relaxing drink and have some photos taken.

The reception was held at the Vue Restaurant, Boonah Valley Motel. When we arrived, a log fire was warming the guests as it was a bit chilly outside. Guests enjoyed great food and wine and a slideshow of images of Steve and Helen growing up to present day. Much laughter (and embarrassment?) for all!
